Each step could wait longer to trigger

How is it not a thing that each step could wait longer to get to the next note/trigger?

That could make sequences longer without using up much data. No?

Not really...  I didn't say that right...

I was watching my new fav synth set (Ehsan Gelsi, Big Nights In) and noticed the seq-steps varied in their length.
(On the Moog System55 sequencer?)
Seems obvious? -  ...Each step could/should have it's own "length" (the number of 16th/32nd notes that it holds[?] )...

The sequences could then be, sometimes, much longer and it wouldn't take up much extra data/space at all.
(A half, or whole note, or even 4 measures, would only take one 'step'.)

..Instead of "tying notes together", you just extend a single note for longer.

(Like...    what is the opposite of Ratcheting?   << ...That!)

[Hah. Negative Ratchets?  --  Actually, that would probably be the easiest way to implement them in the interface! - Negative values for Ratchet.]

...So
I want this step to last an 8th note, then the next one to last a half note, then the next one to last a quarter note... etc.

Actually, I just realized that I am misinterpreting what is going on there (in the video),
(it's just "stepping" to the next LED when a new note/osc is being triggered),

...but it still seems like a good idea.
