What is the status of the Prophet 12 Main OS 1.2.26 (beta)? Is an updated new release candidate scheduled to be available in the near future?

I'd like to know this too... some time ago, it was revealed that Carson had a newer version where some stuff worked, that do not in the current version... I'm still waiting for that fix.

The current version 1.2.26 (beta) hasn't had much in the way of complaints so I bit the bullet today. What intrigued me was the FM and Unison changes and with about ten minutes of messing about with them I can say I am happy. This machine has fixed my need for a modular monster. Plus it is polyphonic.

I would say that you should back up your patches (I use SysEx Librarian on the Mac) and after updating run the calibration routines in the global section.

According to the other forum, another bug has been found in the P12, which has been added to the bug-list for fixing... so at some point I suppose we'll see a fix... only the usual question: When.

There is still so much more you can add to the P12 via software!

Put me down for the Dave Smith software update plan. It will be like the Apple Iphone plan, you pay $50 a month and always will have the latest DaveSmith synth and upgraded o/s

Pym, I believe you mean the current beta that you have there at the moment could be the final version? The shared beta does not have the audio mod working + possibly some other small bugs that were reported. In any case, I am very satisfied with features of the latest version, once the audio mod source is working.

The latest version should be 1.3 according to someone on the "old" forum, who somehow got that version after having his P12 serviced... that is the one we're waiting for I guess, because Carson stated that this version has Audio Mod source working again.

I'm also looking forward to those last bug fixes... really not much more I could wish for...

So pym you mean there won't be any more features added to the Prophet 12 ever?

No chance of phase mod FM or the super waveforms from the pro 2?

Let's not forget that the OS is still beta, waiting for official announcement. Also, IT HAS major new features (linear FM etc.) and bug fixes. The NAMM will be a good place to announce the final version and to let the public know more about the new Prophet 12 features. It is like a new synth with the latest OS. Realistically, I would not wait for any more features. This OS is already beyond the typical DSI OS updating habits. On the other hand, releasing it free of major bugs is important.

If I know DSI right they will spend all of their time before NAMM on getting the new product(s) ready for demonstration at the NAMM show. I would be very (but pleasantly) surprised if DSI had resources to polish off the Prophet 12 OS at that time. My guess is more like next spring/summer once the new baby is out of the door.

F5D, I see what you are saying and thanks for making that clear, but what did Pym mean exactly by "There probably won't be too many further updates for the P12, although there are a couple bug fixes coming up"? does he mean only in the case of 1.3 or for all future updates? I think whether any features will be added in the future or not is an important thing that current owners and potential buyers would like to know. When I found out that linear fm was added I was really excited because I thought it would be like a DX7 but its not quite because Phase mod FM can be a lot harsher sounding and linear fm doesn't seem to self oscilate the same either. I wonder whether it would be possible on the pro 12, maybe it would be too easy to overload the processors.

I must admit that I do not understand the way they think at DSI... Until now, at least ONE person has had his P12 returned from service at DSI, where the latest beta is installed (where Audio Mod is working)... I really don't see the reason to keep us waiting for that to work for this long... why the hell don't they just release that version to us, so that we can all help beta test as usual... Why let some users have it, and not others?.... I'm getting a bit irritated, that the Audio Mod is not working... one of my previously made presets actualy use it, and it's useless to me until that beta is out...

Well, it was beta ... install at your own risk, and I did. After the stream of the last beta's (26 of them) maybe they thought best to be a bit more controlled.
