Title: Potential Bug in Take 5 Firmware?
Post by: hamaliel97 on November 13, 2023, 06:59:48 AM
I’ve had my Take 5 for a few weeks now, and have noticed a potential glitch in my firmware.

The synth will be operating normally, but I will try to save a new patch to the user bank or something else involving the light up Factory or Bank buttons, and suddenly the whole synth will freeze up - I can’t change banks, turn on or off the sequencer, change octaves etc. This would lead me to believe that it’s something to do with the light up buttons, but I’m at a bit of a loss. It’s remedied by a good ole turn off and reboot.

It doesn’t happen often, but often enough that I want to make sure it’ll either a.) Get ironed out as I continue regularly recalibrating the synth since it’s new, or b.) If I need to send it in for repair. Any help would be appreciated!

Edit: Happened again just now - can’t control any of the knobs or parameters, it’s stuck playing the sequence and I can’t turn it off without turning off the whole unit! :(

Are you running the latest firmware 2.0?   If not, that would be a recommended first step.

For debugging, you might also want to try removing any USB/MIDI cables if they are currently plugged in, and see if the issue persists... sometimes if you've got a MIDI loop or external devices sending packets, that could possibly cause issues.

If the issue persists, definitely contact Seq support directly, and they can help you out:
