The issues with the sustain functionality and its relation to arp have been discussed many times in the forum over the past couple years... I got very excited when I saw that the sustain functionality had been addressed in this 1.1.4.9 release, but upon checking it out, seems like its not behaving as intended?? Very strange behavior now. (more than before)
Release Note 7. Bug Fix: Arp on, sustain pedal turns hold on when it should sustain
If you go into Globals and set "Sustain Arp :: Sustain", it does not hold the Arp on while the sustain pedal is held down, and then stop the arp when sustain is released. Basic momentary sustain pedal functionality does not work for engaging and disengaging the arp.
Also, in that mode, you can still press the HOLD latch button -- it doesn't light up -- but it does engage Arp hold, but then there's further odd behavior. If you hit a chord, then press the HOLD button, then release that chord, the Arp will play latched (even though the hold light is not on), but then if you press the sustain pedal down, it latches on a sustain type sound (as if you were playing the patch without the Arp on... even though you're not holding down any keys while hitting the sustain pedal)... and then if you release the sustain pedal, the Arp continues latched, but then if you hit that same chord again, the "invisible hold" is released and the Arp stops. Very weird behavior.
The Main Request that people have had over the years in regards to the sustain / arp functionality is this:
You should be able to turn on the Arp, hit a chord and press down on the sustain pedal and have the Arp continue latched... and then when you release the sustain pedal, the Arp should stop playing. That's the basic behavior that seems like it was intended to be fixed by #7 on the list of changes for this beta OS.. but it doesn't work that way.
Now the sustain pedal behaves even weirder than before. Am hoping you guys can do some further testing on this... It would be immensely helpful for live performance situations to have the behavior described above to work.
Haven't tested out the rest of the fixes and features in this release, but its a good long list... very exciting to see updates!!! Thank you.
