Forum Desktop version with 5 note Ployphony

Would be fantastic if Sequential can make a Forum desktop module with 5 note polyphony - or keep the 4 note and allow polychain.

As long as Sequential provides PolyChain support, it doesn't matter to me whether the module version has 8 voices or 12 voices. If you want a powerful module version, an 8-voice model might be the way to go. I think it would be a good idea to release an 8-voice keyboard version at the same time, too.


If the module version is to have four voices, basing it on the current board would likely allow for a shorter development period, wouldn't it?

I’d love for the PolyChain functionality to be implemented at the same time the module version is announced.

Could Sequential add a modulation wheel to the module version as well? The MIDI keyboard I use doesn't have a pitch wheel or a modulation wheel, so having one would be really helpful.

It looks like the current panel layout could be turned into a module as-is, so adding a modulation wheel might be difficult.

Polychain would be a big selling point.  But putting a mod wheel on the desktop unit does not make sense for valuable real estate.

If Sequential were to use the current panel layout directly for the modular version, that would likely be the fastest approach in terms of scheduling. Since some digital pianos lack pitch/modulation wheels, having them is really convenient. I hope there’s a way to compensate for the absence of the distinctive keyboard found on the original FOURM. With the modular versions, I’d probably have to use a pedal instead of a wheel, but wheels offer better control. I suppose this might be a niche opinion. Maybe I should just build a dedicated MIDI controller with wheels myself? I could use a small synth that already has wheels, of course, but personally, having them built-in is just so handy.
Well, the keyboard version has a wheel, so I guess it's fine.

It would be interesting if they implemented Poly-Chain for the Prophet-5 Rev4, too.
It’s not cheap, but I think it still holds a lot of wonderful possibilities.

No pitch bend or mod wheel on desktop units.  Get a MIDI controller or another synth to use as your master keyboard.  You will be happy.
