Dead voice card

Dead voice card
« on: July 03, 2026, 03:37:38 AM »
I suspect I have a dead voice card since yesterday in my Prophet6 module :( I contacted the support already, but was wondering if there's any way to run with only 5 voices while this gets sorted out? I have some recording to do this weekend and was really hoping to be able to use the Prophet6 for some tracks...

I tried the calibration and it stopped at 061. I tried to switch thee card 6 to the slot 1, and now it stops at 011, which points to a faulty card.

I can't find anything in the doc, but some incomplete info online seem to indicate this could be possible? Calibration with only 5 cards doesn't seem to work. If there's a way, I'd love to know how :)

Thanks!

You might try the voice defeat trick described here in the OB-6 forum?  I haven't had a need to do this but I would think it's identical between OB6 and P6, swapping "Portamento" with "Glide" button for the P6.

yes thanks, this worked! I've found the same info but it always said to "hold the key", I have the module version so I unplugged everything... turned out it works with the midi controller plugged in, and following the same procedure: play the external keyboard until a note sounds "off", that's the faulty voice, keep the key pressed on the controller and press "glide" + "hold".

Then I ran "Preset" + 3 to clear the calibration, then "Preset" + 0 to run the calibration, it ignores the voice 6 which was blocking the process before.

Thanks a lot,  I look forward to hearing from Sequential to get this fixed, but at least I can record now :)

Actually it's not all good... it's so out of tune that it's difficult to find the voice that is failing (the 6th) when playing the keyboard in order to defeat it. I guess I got lucky the first time.

Is there a way to see which voice is triggered when hitting a key "live" ?

Found myself... I removed the faulty card from the Prophet6 altogether, then identifying the voice 6 is easy, no sound :) Now I can calibrate the 5 other voices and it works fine.
