Synth Explorer, a preset editor librarian for the OB-6 and Prophet-6

Hi everyone,

I've been working on Synth Explorer, a browser-based editor and librarian for the OB-6 and Prophet-6.

The project started as a personal tool to allow me to convert and transfer programs I liked between the two synths, and eventually grew into a full editor with support for organizing libraries, editing sounds, and a real-time panel editor.

Everything runs in the browser with Web MIDI, so there's nothing to install. You can use Chromium-based browsers or Firefox with the Jazz MIDI extension.

I'd love feedback from other OB-6 and Prophet-6 owners.

Just wanted to follow up and add some screenshots of the UI here, and also add that V2 of Synth Explorer has been released. It now also supports Prophet 5/10 Rev4 in addition to OB-6 and Prophet-6.

In V2 any sound imported into the shared library is converted into supported formats for all synths. So you can import sounds from your synths directly, or from a sysex file with multiple presets for any of the supported hardware. Any presets that are imported into the library are automatically converted to be used across all synths.

I spent a lot of time refining the workflow and making the UX feel as immediate and intuitive as the hardware itself.

Everything runs directly through Web MIDI in Chrome, so there’s nothing to install. You can try it for free at:
