Pitch offset problem when using MIDI (using Fender Studio Pro)

Hi there fellow Prophet 10/5 players!

I'm using my Prophet 10 a lot since I bought it last year but I have 1 issue when it comes to recording and playing MIDI into the Prophet. Whenever I have recorded a MIDI track and send the MIDI (over USB) to the Prophet I then have to fully dial down the master tune to -5 to get the pitch in tune again.

I've retuned the Prophet, checked MIDI settings in my DAW (no offset there) and about everything there is to check in the Prophet itself (like changing local control, CC vs RPN, Trying just 1 midi channel). But no succes.

Other than that I love how all the knobs seem to respond great with my DAW and the workflow looks amazing. I can record filter sweeps and everything else. It's just really weird that whenever I involve Midi the whole pitch off the Prophet goes up, it's really annoying for my workflow so I'd love the solution if there is one!

You need to use different midi devices and see if it removes the problem.  I used to have a MIDI controller problem where one of the devices had a knob with the pots not cleaned or something, and it would jerk around the settings without even being touched.  The knob had something wrong with it.  But you didn't say anything about your setup, just loading it all on the Prophet.  Which isn't likely.  Out of the box it should work fine.  And there are so many different ways of changing the pitch of oscillators and the filter (which often still makes the synth have a sound when both oscillators are set to vol-0).  So yeah, I would look into the MIDI devices.  I have found that I almost never pay any attention to tuning the prophet.  which is funny because so many people complain about the Tuning here, but I just don't do that type of music.  I suppose none of my synths are probably in tune.  Why tune it anyway?  I really don't understand why.  I just don't get why.  I mean yes I click the tune button from time to time, and sometimes it does fall out of tune against itself.  But what you are saying seems to be that it is quite lower than the a440 button it has on it when you play an A note?  But what about the program.  What is the program you would be using for that test?  I am betting that at least some of the factory programs between 111 and 558 are not in tune (a C on middle C).  I know that probably none of my user presets are in tune (no A on the A key, no C on the C key, but in tune to only itself at whatever frequency it uses).  So why tune?  A440 is meaningless until you play with a stringed instrument.  Synths are adaptable.

To do 'due dilligence' of changing a program I created and saved to one of 200 user slots there on board, of trying to make the program play a C on C and an A on A...no that's not ever been part of my workflow.  It's not even desirable for me as I believe that the frequency I saved the program at, is the one I heard and would want to recall.

I thought of one more thing I need to say here which is I never move that tuning knob off the notch it sets in at halfway.  Aside from that you should read the manuals.

Thanks for your reply! But it was indeed the Prophet I'm afraid. I checked the main and panel versions and saw an update. Just updated everything and now it stays in tune after using MIDI.

Ofc I get that there are many variables that can cause an offset in tuning. But hearing a preset being in tune while just playing on the Prophet's keyboard and then hearing an offset once MIDI runs through it is weird. And yes, I did disconnect all other MIDI devices to check and a whole lot more, sorry I didn't include that in my message.

Anyway, the updates seem to have done the trick! Now my machine went from great to perfect!

Just curious, what version was it before you updated?  Which version when you were having the pitch problem with MIDI connected?
