How to set preset volume since OS 2.1?

How to set preset volume since OS 2.1?
« on: February 16, 2026, 03:15:33 AM »
Hello,
I've just made the 2.1 OS update and I'm wondering where can I set the preset volume (it use to be set by pressing velocity and + or - but now it's for setting filter and amp velocity).
I've made searches but haven't found the solution.
I understand I could use the amp velocity setting to lower the volume but it will also affect the filter velocity setting.
Thanks !  :)

Hold “Preset” and turn the master volume knob is the volume balance setting for split/stack. You might be able to use that on non-split/stack patches too to adjust the preset volume.

Thanks for your reply (and sorry for my late reply)!
I will try that asap.  :)

If you can stack or split the same preset, can you take advantage of the volume settings? I've never done it.
Even if you can do that with the same tone, there may be no advantage other than the volume setting.

If you save the same presets in different banks, they will be recognized as different, and you should be able to use the same volume settings.

I've tried
Hold “Preset” and turn the master volume knob is the volume balance setting for split/stack. You might be able to use that on non-split/stack patches too to adjust the preset volume.

I've tried but no, it doesn't work when not in split/stack mode.  :(

If you stack the same preset, the "press preset button + volume" will have no effect (even if you save the cloned preset elsewhere). Because in this mode the volume button just becomes a balance between stack/split A and stack/split B. If they are exactly the same, you will here no change when you move the volume.

If there is no more a way to set the preset volume, you can do it by using stack/split, your preset + one completely silent (oscillators OFF).

You may want to try this workaround:

Excellent, thanks! Congratulations for finding this workaround.

I post directly your quote below:

I usually keep my output volume at 12 o’clock. Depending on the settings the Prophet patches may vary quite a bit in volume. This is perfectly normal. Unfortunately there’s no easy way to store the output volume per program. However I found a cumbersome workaround that allows me to balance the volume of all my programs to roughly be the same.

Workaround:
1. enable stack or split mode
2. as the "A" program load the patch for which you like to set and store the output volume
3. optional: as the "B" program you may want to load a silent "bogus" program (I use a patch with all oscillator waveforms turned off)
4. adjust the volume balance for the A and B program by holding the 'Preset' button while turning the 'Volume' knob
.
5. make surge the “A” layer is selected
6. save the stack/split program
7. turn stack/split off
8. save the program again
--> Result: The volume level set in step #4 is saved with the program and stays persistent even when not in stack or split mode.
