As far as I know, there isn't a strict file format required for samples on the Prophet X, but most people tend to use .wav files. However, when creating your own sample manager, you’ll likely need to handle things like file names, sample length, and information about the zones on the device.

Have a look for Lady Gaia’s PxToolkit. Either here or on google. It will most likely have the sample file format detailed in the manual.
