Is octave transpose ever coming?

Is octave transpose ever coming?

I know I've asked (both in requests to Sequential, and mentioned in feature requests here)... but it's really the only thing I'd love to see on the Prophet 10. It seems like it would have been fairly simple to implement, but it never came. I believe one of the developers even mentioned on reddit a few years ago (in reply to me) that it was coming but that they had to work through some things to get it. But a new update came out in May of 2025, and it wasn't included. I was surprised to see any new updates since 2020, so it was nice to see some activity on it...

All it needs to do is replace the note priority (which doesn't need to have a single hand perform the action) whereby pressing "KEYBOARD + Group select/Bank Select transposes up or down. Note priority could be moved to the filter keyboard button.

Or, if moving note priority is a problem, just hold LO FREQ and press Group select or Bank select (Dec/Inc). I wouldn't really be bothered by that. Would be nice to have the P10 as a master controller in that sense, or to quickly move between octaves.

Are you talking about a Module?  Wouldn't it just have to apply this to every voice like 20 cards (2 osc x 10 voices)?  Since there is no keyboard.  And in that situation you are able to transpose MIDI in your Daw or select up or down octave on the controller you are using.

I mean if they had included buttons originally (on the full Keyboard P10 r4) that somehow altered the keys that were pressed like some small 2 octave or 3 octave synths and MIDI controllers have, that would be something.  But this is a 5 octave synth with a 4 octave frequency range to the oscillators.  There are also a lot of ways to modify those 4 octaves.  The Lo Freq, the sync button, the LFO MOD and Poly MOD both can change it, as well as lowering your filter cutoff.  Just a lot of ways to get very low low pitches and very high high frequencies.  I don't see why this is necessary.  Just my 2c since I never needed this.

No - the keyboard itself. Most (modern) keyboards, including 61 key synths, have octave transpose buttons to move up and down 12 semitones quickly. I don't think the module was out back in 2020 when octave transpose was requested. I certainly do not think a module would (or should) have this feature, because modules don't need to send MIDI note data, so hopefully this clarifies that point.

It may not be necessary to you, I get that. However, I use octave transpose quite a bit with my setup (and I am not the only one to have requested this. Of course you can 'change the frequency range of the oscillators,' but that occurs at single semitones and would not affect MIDI data, so if you used the P10 as a master controller for your set up, you are out of luck, especially if you want to hit note values that are above or below what the 61 keys offer.

If you think it is irrelevant, then we could ask why most 61 key synths, including the OBX8, Virus TI 61, Prophet 12, UDO Super 8, Super Gemini, Poly Evolver, P08/REV2, and countless others have this feature? They too have large ranges, many ways to modify their sounds. The point is: It is an extremely useful feature for 1) quickly getting to semitones that you can't access within the 61 keys, 2) modifying the sound without shifting the semitone potentiometers, and 3) more easily sending MIDI note data that corresponds with notes outside the standard 61 key range.

Thanks!

That would be helpful. But anyhow, some people has wrong expectations of the P5/10 rev 4 of what it is and what it’s not: It is a legacy of a vintage synth and I’m happy it’s not something else than just a Prophet 5/10 - that’s why I bought it.

Something that's missed here too, would be very useful.

Agree. It’s extremely annoying this haven’t been added yet.

Yes, octave transpose functionality should be added.

It seems it’s the most requested feature since this beauty was released, and I can’t imagine it being impossible to implement.

Unless there’s a principle of some kind that prevents them for doing it.

Would also love to have this feature
