Problems sequencing pro 2 from external midi sequencer

Hey folks. As of a few months ago I'm a happy pro 2 owner. I finally got around to trying to sequence the pro 2 from an octatrak last night, and I've now spent an hour or two failing to get the pro 2 to respond to the octatrack. 

Midi signal flow: octatrack out -> pro 2 in; pro 2 out2/thru -> monomachine.

I have the octatrack set up to send on midi channel 1, and if I set the monomachine to respond to midi channel 1 then it plays the sequence from the octatrack. I mention this since I know from this test that the octatrack really is sending midi on channel 1 and the midi cables are all working.

As for the pro 2, I have set Midi Control Enable to On, Midi Param Recieve to CC (what the octa sends), and I have set the midi Channel to 1. I have tried turning Local Control on and off.

I went through all the posts in this forum that have midi in the title and only saw that sequencing the pro 2 from external midi seems to work smoothly for folks -- so I think this must be user error.  I assume I'm just missing some simple extra step here, but I can't figure out what it is. Any pointers on my specific situation or the general steps you take to make the pro 2 respond to midi sequencing would be appreciated.

I know its simplistic, but easy enough to overlook... but make sure you have it set to either MIDI cable or USB, depending on which you are using.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not actually sure which setting you're referring to. I know that there is a MIDI CLOCK CABLE option, which specifies which input should be watched for midi clock, but I don't think I've seen/found a setting for specifying where to watch for Midi Note/Programming information.

Regardless, I finally got it working yesterday. I was sending a midi sequence from the Octatrack with the Octatrack arpeggiator turned on. I messed around with the arpeggiator settings and heard a few sounds from the Pro 2. Then I tried turning the Octatrak arp off and the Pro 2 started responding. I'm not sure why this would be, but at least I have it responding to some midi sequencing now.

Cool, glad you got it going.  I was just referring to the option of selecting which midi port to use, either usb or traditional cable.
