Prophet 6 amp distortion issues

Hi all,

I bought a second hand Prophet 6 and I am not sure it works as it should. What it concerns me is that a good number of the presets (e.g. 13) sound distorted when I play chords - and they sound distorted both with the headphones and main output. Lowering the main volume or the PRGM volume doesn't decrease the distortion. However, the distortion goes away when I lower the AMP ENV AMOUNT or/and OSC1/2's volume in the mixer. It might be that the synth is designed in this way to allow more aggressive/saturated sounds, but then why they would design most presets - including pads - in a way to sound distorted?

Do any of these patches have the analogue distortion parameter applied? You can check the value by turning the distortion knob until the red dot appears in the display to indicate the saved postion.
