Aftertouch button stays pressed😱
« on: October 15, 2024, 01:20:52 AM »
Hi! My aftertouch button on my Rev4 stays down. I unboxed the Prophet to see what I could do. I don’t understand. No shock, no real issue (it works perfectly and the led is also ok) but I have to push on the upper part of the button to “unlock” it. Unfortunately when you open the device, these button are behind the board so I won’t touch anything. Too dangerous I guess…Has anyone already noticed (and fixed😉)this problem? Thanks for your help.

Lot of buttons staying where they are at these days.  In my opinion they are becoming corroded and the contacts not working as well as they did when the Prophet 10 was brand new.

Supposedly you are supposed to be able to self clean the buttons by pressing them 5 or 10 times quickly.  This does seem to work to get them to change.  It is happening to several of my buttons these days.  Perhaps out of disuse of the synth because I have been busy with other things and haven't done as much music.

Thanks for your answer but I already tried this and doesn’t work. It seems that the button is blocked. I’m afraid I have to open the device or send it to technical repair 🥺

Sometimes, a bit of dust or debris can cause buttons to stick. Try using compressed air to gently clean around the button, but avoid using high pressure directly on the internals.

Reach out to support@sequential.com if you haven't already and we will help you out. Quite often these sorts of issues can be resolved remotely without having to ship units or parts around.

Thank you for all your replies, in fact I found someone to take a look inside the Prophet and guess what? It was a bad welding under the aftertouch bouton, impossible to see. The repairer gave me an advice: touch the P5 buttons "frankly" because it seems that caressing it is not a good way to keep it healthy!
