Buying a Pro 3 - should I get regular or SE? Display model or in the box?

I am so excited that I can't sleep. That's because I have been waiting so long to get it.

Problem though: regular or SE version? There are only so many available. Most stores had them as demo models sitting on the shelves for people to mess around with. I am worried about that - should I be? *sigh*

I don't want to wait any longer than I already have been. I am leaning on getting the SE that was a display model because I can get it at a good price.

Should I only get one that is straight out of the box regardless if it is SE or not? I would prefer the SE but bottom line is I want to purchase a problem free synth.

What has been your experience buying one that has been on display?

Another question - how sturdy is the SE version anyway? I am heavy hands on with the knobs - will the tilt angle easily move?

All feedback appreciated - especially because it will help pass the time waiting for the Pro 3 inevitable arrival. :)

The SE is very sturdy regardless of where the top panel position is set, even if you are heavy on the knobs. In the lowest flat position, the panel secures to the bottom metal with magnets - also very sturdy!

We treat b-stock as warranty in the event that service is needed. We also do our best to keep things affordable and easy for non-warranty service.

For any floor model, best thing to do is to go check it out. If that's not possible, you can always see if there is a demo period with your local dealer.

Good luck! I've got the SE and I love it, always stays in the upright position 8)

If in the UK, you could buy my mint SE I’ve had listed for ages.

Thanks Gus - I found an SE that was on the shelf in a store and they claimed that it has only been there for 2 weeks.

Sorry Quatshmacher, I would love to go to the UK to attend a couple football matches, but it is to far to go to buy a keyboard. :)  (not sure if I will ever make it out there for a football match, but never say never right? I am on the other side of the ocean in North America.)

The dream is that the Pro 3 will make my music famous and I will tour and my travel costs will be paid that way. Lol! I guess I could make enough music for a set and then book myself into a small venue and then write off my costs as tax expenses.

Not too obvious that I am a bit excited, but i have been waiting almost 4 years for this. As soon as I learned about this synth I wanted it. I am more of a "noise maker" than a keyboardist. I have an old Moog Rogue and I recently found a local place that repairs and restores synths, so it is going in as it is old and needs a deep cleaning. (I hope it can be restored without too much effort.) But I am not too concerned about it as I am sure I will get everything out of the Pro 3 that I am hoping for, plus more.

I have so many people telling me "Why are you buying a physical board when you can just get everything on a computer?"

I am sure that works for some people, but not me.

Geeez - want to know the secret to staying young? Keep chasing your dreams. I bet I don't need to tell that to anyone here!

Okay, I have tripped out enough on here for now. I should go and see what other threads can accommodate my enthusiasm. :)

Your enthusiasm is appreciated! Congrats on the incoming synth! For what it's worth, my Pro One and Micromoog are close pals. Certain synths pair up quite well.

For what it is worth, I prefer the simpler standard PRO-3, it is lighter for live gigging. But I can see the allure of the PRO-3SE as is closer to a MiniMoog and looks great!
