Calibration failure after 2.0 update

I had numerous full calibration failures, what I ended up doing by the direction of Sequential was to revert back to V1.1.1.0 then install V2.0 and immediately run full calibration.  I didn't power cycle it just ran one after the other and it installed, full calibration went fine and is working.  Saying this, I am hopeful they come up with a bug fix because in my mind I continue to wonder if this is a shortcut or permanent.

Hi everyone,

Same issue for me on the OBX8 Desktop - I updated to 2.0, calibration failed on the SEM voice. I reinstalled 1.1.1.0 and all is fine again.

Same issue here. Since I just received my brand new OB-X8, I unfortunately don't have any other old FW files. Is there any place to download the v1.1.1.0 to give that rollback method a try?

-> EDIT: Found it, just right in this thread :) Sorry. So now let's see if that works.

I had similar issues. Installed 2.0, followed instructions and calibration will not work. Stuck on Voice 1.
Did Calibration again. Went fine. Tested tune button and everything worked
The next day started, let warm up and tuning is stuck on voice 1 again, just like before.

It's looking like we have resolved this issue in software and we will release an update in the very near future.

For anyone who has had trouble calibrating on OS 2.0, we have a simple workaround. In addition to the normal OS update steps, you must turn the master volume to max before running full calibration. The steps are as follows:

1. Update the OS to 2.0 https://oberheim.com/support/
2. Power the unit off, then on
3. Reset Globals
4. Clear calibration
5. Turn the master volume to max
6. Run full calibration

Here are the steps in more detail, which are also listed in the ReadMe and on our website.

RESETTING THE GLOBAL PARAMETERS

You must reset the Global parameters of the OB-X8 after you update the OS.
   •   Press the Global button.
   •   Use the Scroll Knob to select Reset Globals, then press the Write button.

CLEAR CALIBRATION

You must clear calibration after you update the OS.
   •   Hold Transpose Up + Down and press the Global button.
   •   Select the first option to Clear Calibration and press Write.
   •   From here, turn the master volume to max and run full calibration following the steps below.

RUN FULL CALIBRATION

Please run the full calibration Global option after you update the OS.
   •   Turn master volume to MAX.
   •   Press the Global button.
   •   Use the Scroll knob to select Full Calibration, then press the Write button.
   •   The synthesizer performs its auto-calibration procedure. Do not turn off the power while it is doing this.
   •   When finished, the front panel controls return to normal, and you can play the OB-X8 again.

Excellent! This solved my OS 2.0 installation problme as I was always stuck with no progress on the full calibration after the install. I had been using headphones before/after and the master volume was always at a very low setting.

OS 2.0.0.1 is released, which contains a fix for users experiencing calibration issues after updating to 2.0.

Please reset globals, clear calibration, and run full calibration after successfully updating to 2.0.0.1. These steps are outlined on our website, in the ReadMe, and in the pinned OS post on this subforum.

If anyone continues to have issues with calibration, please reach out to support@oberheim.com and we will help you out!

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to say thanks to this forum and the advice given on this thread.

I did the update fine and all the global resetting etc was fine. But just recently I struggled to get the tune function to get past voice 1.

The workaround with the master volume setting sorted it out.

Nice!

Do I get this right, the calibration failed on using OS 2.0.0.1 and not OS 2.0? This is different from my experience.

Hi. Nope - I was just on 2.0. I haven't gone the extra stage further yet and gone onto 2.0.0.1

I had the calibration problem with 2.0. Last night I finally got around to installing 2.0.0.1. It worked great, no problem whatsoever. Thank you very much.

Just purchased a new keyboard. It was on version 1.0.0.3 and updated to 2.0.0.1. Having the voice calibration problems with the OB-X voices. Tried the clear CAL and Global reset. That works. But then later after having it off for a while it wouldnt calibrate again.

Did you follow the pinned troubleshooting guide? They advise turning output volume to maximum during calibration to overcome the issue until a software fix is implemented.
