How do you create vibrato with mod wheel on OBX8?

How do you create vibrato with mod wheel on OBX8?

I’m sure this is elementary but I can’t figure it out.

Thank You.

I want expressive leads. There are tons of patches on my OB6 and Trigon 6 that do this but not my OBX8.

It’s the desktop version BTW.

It’s detailed on page 43 of the user manual: https://oberheim.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/OB-X8-Users-Guide-1.0.pdf

The “lever box” section is the central black section at the top of the desktop module. Set mode to “mod”, enable one or both of the buttons marked “osc1” and “osc2” further along to the right which have “mod” written under them. Use “rate” and “depth” knobs to taste.

To get vibrato LFO on the mod wheel or paddle on the X8, you need to have OSC 1 or OSC 2 engaged in the -MOD- section. This assigns the vibrato LFO to OSC 1 or OSC 2. The Rate knob changes the speed. The paddle or mod wheel increases the depth.

You can also assign Aftertouch to LFO in Page 2, then you can set the rate on the front panel, and the max amount of aftertouch in Page 2.

Or, you can assign the main LFO to OSC 1 or OSC 2 and turn up the rate and depth 1. To get more control, you can delay or slew the entry of the LFO using Page 2.

Have fun!
