Envelope curves?

Envelope curves?
« on: June 15, 2024, 10:23:51 AM »
There's only a few things I don't like about the Pro 3... but one of them, sadly, is the envelope curves. They are linear, which results in unnatural tails. I've tried using CV feedback - that is, controlling VCA Env Release with VCA Env - but I have not yet figure out exactly how to tailor this to get the desired response. I have figured out that the envelope segment mod destinations are not time, but rate (so to go slower, they need to be negatively modulated), but my results are hit or miss. Does anyone know the secret of getting logarithmic envelopes out of this guy?

I'm pretty sure the envelope stages are logarithmic.
I often use that Env 'feedback' trick in the ModMatrix to get a nice sharp Decay stage.

There's an old thread on the Take5 subforum about modifying the Attack stage like this.

I'm quite sure that the envelope curves are not linear; at least, that's what my ears tell me. Btw modulating envelope segments with the envelope itself works well, but the numerical scaling for the segments isn't consistent... a value of 78 for the decay, for example, isn't the same time of a 78 for the release... the only way is to use ears only.
