What does pressing and holding arpeggiator button do?

The sequencer display something I don't understand how to interpret / control.

That looks like the PanelOS version number (in "binary"). 
See if that's the same set of buttons and colors that flashes by during start up, which IS the PanelOS version number.

That's it! Holding arp displays the panel OS number in binary.

When held, it activates the arpeggiator while you play notes, enabling you to create arpeggiated sequences. Releasing the button will turn off the arpeggiator.
