P5/10 volume balance in Split Mode issue

I can't think of any steps I missed to keep the volume balance set in Split Mode, but when saving the patch the volume balance is not saved. This is how I do:

1. PRESET and DEC/BANK SELECT to SPL
2. PRESET and B appaear
3. VELOCITY hold, decrease the volume of split B with DEC/BANK to lets say 70
4. PRESET and A appear

Now the balance of the volume is adjusted and works as expected

5. REC and the Patch to the original of A, lets say 211

Now the volume balance is lost and back to before edited


What am I missing?

Judging by the way you adjust for balance, you don’t seem to be on firmware 2.0.4, do you?

On 2.0.4, volume balance is set by holding preset and then turning the volume knob, unless they still allow for the old combo, which I haven’t tried: https://forum.sequential.com/index.php/topic,4873.0.html

I’m on 2.04. What I’m understanding it has been a known bug to fix in next update. I found a work around by engage velocity amp or velocity filter but not without velocity. I will try turning the volume knob, have not seen that in the manual/add.

It works with the volymen knob as a ballance between the two timbres, similar to OB-X8 and other synths - great! It is not documented in the OS 2.0 manual addendum but with the technic described I was trying first - strange, just in the change log.

Great to know that the balance is saved using the most recent combo. I guess that this combo was inspired by the development of OB-X8, which comes with two volume knobs.

Because 2.0.4 is a beta firmware, we can’t be sure that the combo will stay in. It is a bit of a dangerous one if you forget to hold the preset button or if you adjust global volume thereafter. I’d personally prefer that the combo would be hold preset plus turn sustain knob instead.
