Filter and Portamento

Filter and Portamento
« on: March 25, 2024, 08:21:46 AM »
I just fired up the OB-6 for the first time in ages and I noticed that the filter does not glide together with portamento but just jumps to the new note immediately, something I hadn't noticed before. It would be nice if it did, something to consider for a future OS upgrade if there ever is one.  ;D

Yes, this portamento filter behavior is irritating. It should follow the keyboard CV in real time when tracking is on like all the other OBs.

Also,  I wish the voices wouldn’t track at the same rate, for a blurring effect, again like ALL the other OB series synths! Or, at least, have the option to have this on or off like the OB8. (Match quantize on or off in page 2)

I hope these are addressed in an upcoming firmware release!

Makes me wonder if anybody at Sequential even reads any of these posts. It's been a long time since the last OS update and there are still issues that need addressing. I'd also like to be able to send midi notes from chord memory and chords from the sequencer, it's not much to ask for a synth at this price point. If Behringer can manage to do it with the DeepMind I think Sequential should be able to cobble that together without too much trouble.

We do read these posts, though we don't always reply. While we do scrub the forum for feature/bug requests, it's always best to send requests and reports directly to support via support@sequential.com. The latter two feature requests weren't documented and have been added. Sending MIDI from a chord would be cool, but it does complicate MIDI handling when you factor in feedback loops etc. I can't promise anything as far as updates go, but these have been logged!

Thanks for logging my request. Is anything being done about the filter behaviour when portamento is engaged ?

It's our policy not to promise features or give timelines for OS updates - mainly because we are a very small team and we have to balance our priorities. This feature is on our request list, meaning it will get looked at down the road.
