USB MIDI acting weird after an hour

USB MIDI acting weird after an hour
« on: February 23, 2024, 04:58:41 AM »
I started using my Take 5 as a MIDI controller connected to the computer with a USB cable. It works fine for a while but after an hour notes are missed, or they keep sounding even after the key is released, etc. I don’t mean the internal synth engine but rather software synths in the DAW.

Anyone having a similar problem?

Probably MIDI loop artifacts. If you are using Logic then decouple the Take 5 destination from the External MIDI Plugin and see if that helps.

I've been having the same issue with my Take 5! It's driving me crazy.

The described behavior in this thread is exactly what happens when an unintentional MIDI feedback loop is present. We have an article below that goes into some detail on these, as well as how to avoid them:

Anyone having a similar Run 3 Unblocked problem?
Over time, the USB port may struggle to maintain consistent power or data transmission, leading to missed notes or stuck notes. Try switching to a different USB port, preferably one directly connected to your computer, rather than through a hub.

It's not uncommon for MIDI controllers to have hiccups when connected to a DAW, especially if there are latency or buffer size settings that need adjusting. Have you tried increasing the buffer size in your DAW’s audio settings? That might help with missed notes and stuck notes. Also, make sure your USB cable is in good condition and that you're using the latest firmware for your Take 5.
