Press the Globals button three times while you have selected the program you'd like to appear after you power on the Prophet-6. Keep in mind that you may have to repeat this every once in a while after you've made changes in the global menu, since entering and exiting the global menu takes three times pressing the Globals button (1 for entering the first row of parameters, 2 for entering the second row of parameters, 3 for leaving the global menu).

I was confused by this as well when I first got my P6.  I couldn't figure out how it decided to power up on seemingly random patches.

That was an interesting feature.
