Hello,
my mod lever it works only if I pull it down, but nothing happens when I push it up.

Thank you

That’s normal. The mod only works on one half of travel. You can invert it in the global menu.

In global you can only invert the pitch lever direction. Anyway it is a bit strange to have a lever that works just halfway

This is the expected operation of the mod lever on vintage OB-X/Xa/8 instruments, and we endeavored to reproduce the experience as closely as possible while still allowing for some more modern features.

Yes, but it was not mentioned in the manual. So I had this doubt. Anyway, I am glad to hear that it could be used for some other features ;)

no problem.

I did send in a feature suggestion for an alternate way for the mod lever to function: pulling it from centre to one direction and releasing it would latch at the value reached. Then pushing in the other direction from centre would move the value back towards zero. Don’t know if they’d consider adding this but thought that, in one mode, it could satisfy users who like to have the mod wheel be able to be left in a non-zero position, whilst still allowing accurate vintage behaviour in the other mode.

I was also considering if it would be possible in firmware to could assign two separate modulation parameters to it (up and down controlling different things)

I´m all for original vintage behavior but in this case LFO>VCF Modulation on the Y+ axis would be really awesome.

To have a control not do anything on a synth of any price seems like a waste.  The people familiar with the legacy instrument's operation wouldn't even know any better until they were pleasantly surprised............ that pushing up on the mod lever applied modulation in the opposite direction (negative?) :)

Making it page 2 assignable would be even better.  I mean, WHY THE HECK NOT.

I'd offer, respectfully, that a good instrument is more than simply a collection of features.

When buying a premium instrument it’s nothing else than stupidity, if not available to try it out in a music store, to not make some research before buying. The OB-X8 is clearly marketed as an instrument in the same spirit as the OB-X, OBXa and OB-8 from early eighties, including the interface. To expect it to be a modern VST with zillions of features in a box is to have wrong expectations and not made the homework before buying it. I couldn’t not be more happy than I am with my OB-X8 - it sounds, looks, behaves and is exactly what I expected it to be when I swiped my card.

Hey now... to think we wouldn't know this, after having already shelled out for one because of its reputation, is respectfully way out of touch.  Nobody said a thing about the sound or even a critique of the way any of the legacy functions currently work.  It was just a few suggestions for essentially dead panel space, and it's not like the OB-X8 has no new features.

And then there's Analog Prophet, who just called us stupid for buying one... yeah, that makes sense.  Don't just gate keep your precious analog hardware; double down and call everyone stupid to boot!  Are personal attacks so someone can keep feeling good about that card swipe allowed on this forum?

If you quote me why not quote what I said instead of making up lies and personal attack me ? >:(

OK then, here's your quote.  Maybe next time, try not to swing it around so hard.  Nobody needs to defend their purchase; we all own the synth, and it's the best.
