How to phase sync LFO without wave reset

How to phase sync LFO without wave reset

I was kinda amazed when I previously posted elsewhere about this trying to find a solution and was met with a lot of insistence  that I was just confused about how LFOs work. hm ok.
 So
LFO has phase. On a saw the cycle  starts low and goes high.
I want my LFO to cycle freely with the clock but always start/ be phase aligned with beat one. Meaning not the "wave reset" option.  Beat one hits, the LFO is always at its low point, for example.  For any its not obvious to, simply choosing LFO sync will sync to the clock but the clock keeps running when you hit stop and the phase alignment just drifts even tho the clock will readjust when you hit play again.  If Im understanding that part wrong pls feel free to correct me but it certainly sounds that way, on most of my machines.

Anyway, I can accomplish this manually by tapping the wave reset button on and off right at beat one, as per my example.  Is there any other way to accomplish this??

If you’re sending clock from an external MIDI controller such as a Morningstar MC3/6/8, you could also program the CC for the wave reset to be sent on the same button you use to start the clock/play. You could have it such that wave reset is engaged on press and disabled on release.

Theres no CC for the wave reset. That was my hope as well.

There are NRPNs for it though.
