The year is 2055....online communities for synth enthusiasts are awash with musicians searching for that "original MIDI sound" that gave electronic music from the 1980s to 2020s its unique sonic profile... you know, back when timing wasn't perfect but the imperfect timing helped give the music character, and the limitations of 16 channels forced musicians to seek out creative solutions. Back when composition skill was needed to add variation to a track rather than MPE, polyphonic AT, etc. and other advancements. Back when song writing involved playing an instrument rather than speaking ideas into an AI music generator. Fear not, plugins will be available to help producers make their MIDI 2.x setups work more like MIDI 1.x used to, introducing latency and jitter into the equation and limiting channels for example, to bring back that retro vibe.
