Thanks for this, I had not heard of the artist before but he's very talented at creating synthwave.  I think he could be huge if he sent his stems off to a good mixing engineer.  Most of that compilation album is mixed too dark, IMHO ..  some of the other tracks on his site sound reasonably well-mixed, but lack consistency.  Which is a shame because the tracks themselves are great.

I also suffer from being a better writer than a mix engineer.  I used to feel pressure to become better at mixing, but then I realized most of the artists I really admire outsource their mixing and mastering anyway.  There really is a lot of value to be gained from another set of ears doing the mixing.
