I’ve been happy with the dust covers I bought from Viktory for my OBX8 and Prophet 10 Rev 4.
Prophet 10 Rev4, OB-X8, Moog One, Rhodes Mk8, Osmose, OB-6 desktop, Trigon 6 Desktop, Kawai VPC-1, Steinway D

I've purchased many covers from CUSTOM Covers Ltd. They all fit perfectly with nice cutouts on the backside to allow keeping the synth plugged in. They are high-quality, durable covers. I pre-ordered an OB-X8 cover from them before the synth was released to the public, and the cover fits exactly. CUSTOM covers are durable canvas with super soft plushy material inside where it contacts the synth.

They go out of stock quickly, so message them if you want something. They can make and ship out fast, from my personal experience.

I also have a few of the Star Dust covers. https://www.ebay.com/str/stardustsynthcovers

They are good quality but much stiffer. While functional, I prefer the CUSTOM Covers because you can fold them up and store them in your ATA case if needed.  Star Dust covers are a stiffer vinyl/plastic material, with printed synth logo/graphics, with soft foam inside where it contacts the synth.
Oberheim is the Rolls Royce of analog synthesizers in terms of sound! OB-Xa, OB-8, TVS-Pro Black, SEM patch, Matrix-6r, Matrix-1000, and an OB-X8.

I have been using digital deck covers for years. I do have the OB-X8 cover in quilted nylon and it works well.

For all my synths, I just use one of these:

The flexible hose is the key.  I have some aftermarket brush attachments that I use that are perfect for getting in between the knobs.

I prefer to eliminate dust rather than just shift it around.  Only takes a min or two to dust the entire studio.

til you end up with a knob sucked down into the vac...sorting through dust and everything else you've managed to vacuum up isn't fun.

If you use a shop vac that's designed to pull water from a crawlspace or something, then sure maybe... the hand vac I suggested isn't even close to that level of suction.   Even on my Hypersynth Xenophone (which has notoriously easy to pull off knobs), it would never begin to budge the knobs, particularly with the brush tip I mentioned.

It is enough suction to vaccum a wood floor with the right attachment though, I can vac my entire house (no carpet) with it.

For dust on audio gear I find the suction amount to be optimal.

That’s what I ordered for my OB X8. I have one for my Virus TI2 Darkstar and it’s great.
