Take 5 Beta Main OS
« on: October 13, 2022, 05:20:29 PM »
When the OS file is transmitted to the synth the main display will show that the OS file is being received. The 7 segment display will show a count from 0 to 100 indicting reception of the OS file.  Once the count reaches 100, the main display will update to indicate that the OS is being written and the 7 segment display will show "PrG".

**DO NOT POWER THE SYNTH OFF WHILE THE OS IS BEING WRITTEN.  The synth can be safely power cycled when the main display shows that the update is finished and the 7 segment display shows "rSt".**

Not that we're expecting bad things to happen, but always better safe than sorry. Just remember, you're never going to say to yourself "Man, I wish I hadn't backed that up..."

We do not recommend using the following MIDI interfaces for sysex transfers as we have had multiple users experience problems with them:

    Native Instruments Maschine
    Digidesign Mbox/Mbox2
    Digidesign 001/002

To check if the OS update was properly installed, press GLOBAL.  The OS version is displayed in the upper left hand portion of the screen.

If your OS update failed:

1. Update your MIDI drivers for your MIDI interface to the latest or last known stable version
2. Try alternate speed settings: transfer speed settings as low as 25% and as high as 100% have worked for some users when 80% did not
3. Try an alternate MIDI interface. The M-Audio MIDI Sport Uno works well here and is relatively cheap
4. In Windows with MIDI OX on Windows XP:  Try doubling or quadrupling the Size setting to start, and halving/doubling the number of buffers
5. Search google and/or forums for the company that produces your MIDI interface to see if other users are having similar problems with Sysex transfers and whether there is a solution specific to your interface
6. If you are on Windows XP, try another OS or machine. Although it's not ideal, we have had less problems with Mac OSX and Windows 7. Windows XP has known issues with sysex transfers

**INSTALLATION NOTE: It is recommended to reset globals after updating**

Bug Fix: hung notes when using sustain in various cases
Bug Fix: Osc 2 level in filter bypass cannot be modded when osc level set to 0
Bug Fix: Osc 2 level in filter bypass modulation range is less relative to not filter bypass
Bug Fix: Osc 2 level cannot be modulated when filter bypassed and FM active

Bug Fix: Compare not working correctly after basic program instantiated
Bug Fix: Incorrect bank number can be displayed after exiting write when compare is active
Bug Fix: Write active, target program fixed when compare turned on/off

**IMPORTANT NOTE - If you saved programs in user banks 9-16 on the OS, the programs will be pushed to the factory bank to account for the bug where updating from 1.0 OS caused program offsets.

Bug Fix: Compare does not work when write is not active
Bug Fix: OSC 2 heard when FM active when patch with FM saved on is selected
Bug Fix: Write cancelled, incorrect program name/number can be displayed
Bug Fix: Sustain pedal off kills all notes even with keys still held
Bug Fix: Updating from 1.0 causes factory programs to be pushed to user banks 9-16

**Known Issue: The factory sound bank locations will be overwritten with basic program when the OS is loaded.  A factory sound bank file which will load to the factory locations is attached**
