Pro 2 and Prophet 6 Module Midi Settings

Pro 2 and Prophet 6 Module Midi Settings
« on: August 01, 2016, 10:23:50 AM »
Hi there  :)

I´m using my Pro 2 as a Midikeyboard for my Prophet 6 Module and I´m using the Midi-Out-Port on the Pro 2 for that Workflow. But everytime when I start my whole setup (with Clock- & Transport Commands from my external Sequencer) I have to unplug the Midicable because Midi-Out on the Pro 2 does not understand Clock- & Transport-Commands.

My Question:

Is there a way to send Clock- and Transport-Commands from the Pro 2 using the Midi-Out-Port?

Or

Is there a way to send Notes from the Pro 2 using the Midi Thru / Out 2-Port?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I'm a bit confused where you say that the P2 doesn't support clock and transport.

It supports receiving and sending midi clock and midi Start/Stop/Continue.

What exactly is going wrong?

Cheers

My Pro 2 receives Clock- and Transport-Messages on the Midi-In-Port.

My Pro 2 sends Clock- and Transport-Messages on the Midi-Thru / Out 2-Port (to my Prophet 6 Module).

But I need the Clock- and Transport-Messages on the Midi-Out-Port or Note-Messages on the Midi-Thru / Out 2-Port because I don´t want to unplug my Midicable every 10 Minutes.

Ah Ok, I get you I think.

I haven't tried this but if you change Globals:

4 Midi Clock Mode -> Slave Thru
5 Midi Clock Cable -> MIDI Port 1&2
12 Midi Port - > out

Does it force everything through port 1?

Thx for your reply.

My Pro 2 does not receive a Midi-Start-Signal with these settings.

I'll try to set mine up the same (seq->pro2->another synth)  in a while to see if I can get it going by messing around with the globals....

I think i will invest 50€ for a used Midi Merger with 2 Inputs and 1 Output. Maybe this could solve my Problem.

Make sure your Pro2 Clock Mode does not contain the characters "NSS" which is there as "no start stop" meaning it filters out those commands.

Checked. The Clock Mode is set to Slave.

I´ve got a new idea to get this problem solved. I ordered a used Miditemp MP88 Patchbay. It should be possible to route/merge the Midisignals  to send Notes, Clock and Transport-Commands to the Prophet 6 Midi-In-Port.

Feedback is coming soon  :)

The Miditemp MP-88 (programable Midipatchbay) solved my Problem. Octatrack and Pro 2 are plugged into the Midi-In-Ports of the MP-88 and are both routet (merged) to the Prophet 6.

No more Cable-Trouble  8)
