Changing Beats AND triggering sounds via MIDI ??

Hi, I'm considering buying a Tempest, but one thing stops me from the manual.
I would only sequence it from a DAW, and wish to remotely change 'kits'. My plan is to leave the 16 'beats' and use them as drum kits.

but the manual says :

• Follow Pad Func: Incoming MIDI notes will control whatever is selected by the Pad Function buttons, exactly like the pads.
• Sounds: Incoming MIDI Notes will always trigger sounds.
• Beats: Incoming MIDI Notes will always select one of the 16 beats.
• Mutes: Incoming MIDI Notes will always be used to mute/unmute the 32 sounds [16 each in banks A and B].

Does it mean, that, from MIDI, I can only change Beats OR play sounds ?
That seems insane, but who knows. Thanks !

Just because the members of this community - most of whom have long moved on from this forum, if not the Tempest itself - might not have the time to take a question to task, that shouldn't affect your decision to buy an expensive instrument.  If you really want to know the answer, or if there's something you don't understand in the manual, reach out to DSI/Sequencial Support.  They'll have an answer for you, post haste, I'm sure.
