Possible Pitch Bend Workaround For Layer #2... Would This Work?

As a workaround to the lack of pitch bend on layer #2 (Pym confirmed: "It was intended to happen but there isn't room to do it right because we hit the ceiling in the chip.") I was thinking of using a BomeBox (https://www.bome.com/products/bomebox) to translate pitch bend messages for layer #2 to either CC #20/24 or CC #21/25 (oscillator frequency and fine tune for both oscillators, respectively.)

Would the "Master Coarse Tune" NRPN be a more appropriate target?
Could this work or could it cause other issues?
