Recording sounds separately - global mute or voice assign?

Recording sounds separately - global mute or voice assign?
« on: March 27, 2022, 12:19:44 PM »
Hi There,

I'm looking for a quicker way to record sounds separately when using a playlist.

I was using track mutes but that's obviously per beat, and voice assign also seems to be per beat - is that right?

Is there a workflow where you don't have to change every individual beat in order to record sounds separately from a playlist?

And if not, are there any tricks to speed this process up?

Cheers, Ben

Have tried using mutes, voice assign and soloing.

The fastest way for me was the solo method. Voice assign was faster than mutes but the solo method doesn't require me to faff around with physical cables and my interface.

Before I lock-in, just checking there isn't a faster way as there's quite a few steps to setup each sound before playing down...
  • Choose the beat
  • Choose the sound
  • Switch to the mixer and hit the solo button
  • Choose the next beat
  • Switch to the mixer, check the same pad is selected and hit the solo button
  • Rinse and repeat for every beat in the playlist
  • Play the playlist and record
  • Rinse and repeat for each sound to record

Any suggestions welcome.
