How many alternate tuning slots?

The manual states there are 16 alternate tuning slots, though alt tuning ranges from normal - 63. Tuning slot 63 sounds quite nice also.

Were more slots added in a firmware update? I don't see it in any revision notes. Just wondering. Thanks.
