Erase step sequence to be able to have take 5 receive midi notes?

Is it possible to erase a recording I made on the step sequence? I'm trying to get my take 5 to receive midi notes from my octatrack, but when I send just on note from my octratrack, the whole recording that's store on the take 5 is being played. There must be a way to control take 5 through another midi controller in a "free" way?
