Hiss from distortion knob

Hiss from distortion knob

I'm playing my Prophet-6 through studio monitors and a guitar amp.

I'm noticing in my patches with the distortion past 12 o'clock I can hear hiss.
If I turn the master volume & program volume to max and turn down my amps volume and mixer volume down, it's less noticeable. So the gain ratio is higher on the synth than any external amplification it's better. I still can hear it in headphones as well.

Has anybody else experienced this and are there any solutions beyond adjusting the gain ratio?

I've had two Prophet 6s, both hiss with Distortion turned up... I've always taken this as normal.

increasing the gain enough that it will distort heavily is inevitably going to raise the noise floor
