Prophet Rev2 changing patches live

Hi all!

Was wondering if any fellow Rev2 users have discovered a good iOS app that manages patch change via Bluetooth MIDI? I'd like to be able to simply hit a button on my iPhone and send the desired bank/program change wirelessly. This would be a lot better than using the rotary dial to change patches which is unreliable (and also would have to be constantly reordered depending on setlist).

Surely there is an app out there that does this??

Hi,

I use MIDI Macros on an iPhone and Lightning Camera Connection Kit, which I find brilliant!  It lets you set up 'buttons' for program changes (and any other MIDI message).  I don't know whether it works over Bluetooth, but is great over USB to the Rev2. The developer also makes an app to enter program changes manually or increment/decrement, but the buttons of MIDI Macros work best for my needs.  In fact I didn't gig the Rev2 until I found this app, so I would thoroughly recommend it.

It works on my iPhone 8, but not an old (original) SE for some unknown reason.

If you try it let us know what you think.

Thanks for the suggestion! I checked out that app and compared it to Midipad 2 https://apps.apple.com/au/app/midipad-2/id896879399

Both apps can send patch change when connected via MIDI (in my case, using a Yamaha bluetooth MIDI adapter in the Rev2). I found the interface in Midipad2 to be a bit cleaner, but MIDI Macros appears to be more powerful if you want additional midi functions. I don't think it's possible to send bank change using these methods as that would probably require sysex? I wasn't able to figure it out anyway.

Basically, as long as your patches are saved in the same bank of 128 programs, these apps offer good solutions for quick patch changes when playing live  8)
