Swapping

Say we've edited the A Part of a Program, and the B Part sucks, and we'd like to keep our new edit as the B Part....
And keep the old A Part too - so transfer the Edit to Part B, without losing the original Part A.
I think that Swapping them, will not retain the edit.
Is there a way to do this?     (without resorting to saving to a new location, then selecting that in the old program, which should work.)
