Prophet 5/10 OS 2.0 Available?
« on: September 05, 2021, 07:39:55 PM »
Just to check if my Prophet 10 is on the latest version, I went to "Download Latest OS" on the Support page and sure enough there's a version 2.0 available. However, the Read Me file has a date of "Sept-7-2021" (it's Sept 5 as I write this) and there are no notes at all as to what was updated and/or fixed. Also, in this forum I only see mention of the 1.5.2 OS. What am I missing here?

Just wondering .....   Where did you find the "Support page" ?

And if there´s a new OS coming, I´m sure they will announce it
in top post on P-5 / P-10 page "Newest Prophet 5/10 OS x.x.x"    8)

Release notes are dated Sept 7th so I assume it will get announced tomorrow and was just uploaded ahead of time in preparation.
I tested the aftertouch / LFO response and unfortunately it is still too dramatic with anything other than light pressure.  I'd really like to see the introduction of negative values which flatten the curve so that there is more resolution between the amounts of pressure applied.  Right now, it plays pretty well for brief accidental amounts of very light pressure, but apply even a tiny increment more and the LFO goes ballistic, to levels that would rarely be of musical use.

Please fix this Sequential, this is the flagship product after all!

But i noticed something strange. When i want to create a patch from scratch and i hold the rec button plus the preset one, it not initialize the patch, but it gives me a sound with 2 square waves plus the filter not fully opened, plus some envelope amount. In short it is not an initialized patch. Did anyone notice it?

After the powercycle mine says version 2.0.0 and the init patch is different. 2 sawtooth oscillators plus envelope

This is probably a silly question but is it advisable for me to upgrade to OS 2.0 on my Prophet 5 Rev 4, even though I don’t have the voice expansion card? I am aware of course that the stacks and splits won’t work (at least not in the intended way  :D )  but just asking in case it’s good practice/has bug fixes etc.

First... bi-timbrality with split and stack... Wow!  And it's much more cleanly implemented than I would have guessed.  Big kudos there!  It will be fun to have another way to add a different transient to the start of a synth sound, or play bass on the left and pad on the right.

But I have to ask...  Why would the init patch function in Normal mode need to change?  As far as I can tell, the only way to get a true init patch now is to go in and edit either layer A or B and reset those to init?  Please make init patch in normal mode work as it did before (unless there is some reason it needs to be how it is that I'm just missing).

[Update}...  I found if I turn Preset off, do Rec+Preset, turn Preset back on and kill OSC B I have an init patch.   But I don't like it.  Kindly requesting original behavior please?
