Prophet 12 as a controller for Prophet 10 module
« on: June 16, 2021, 11:09:57 PM »
Hi,
I just realized that the Prophet 10 is now existing as a module so, do you see any issue to use it with my prophet 22 as a controller? Besides the plus being saving space and 1100$ compared to buying the prophet 10 keyboard, what minis do you see it it? Is the AT and Velocity etc will react almost the same? I'm assuming, no possibility to use the sliders form my P12 on the prophet 10 right? Even withh midi?
Let me know
Thanks

You’re going to need to crack the manuals open and examine the MIDI CC and NRPN tables to see if they’ll make sense together.

For example you need to examine OSC 1 pitch, shape, etc. compare filter freq, res, filter env settings. Just to name 5 or 6. There’s going to be over 100 to compare.

Filter selection between 1/2 & 3 doesn’t exist on P12 but could be mapped to the 2/4 pole setting.

There’s no easy answer in this one. You just have to compare them MIDI tables. And it’s a good idea to do it on your own since you’ll be the one dealing with it daily.

Hopefully that helps, if not I could walk you through a couple of examples to get you started.

Alternatively you have to build a MIDI mapping from one set of CC assignments to another set of MIDI CC assignments either using your DAW or a specialized piece of MIDI hardware.

The new beta firmware of the Morningstar MC8 has an even processor function which will translate any MIDI CC to any other on whatever channel you like. Only 16 translations are possible though.

Hi,
Ok, thanks a lot, I was not necessarily thinking about using the pot/knobs of the P12 to control the P10, it was just more a question of quality  of keyboard, if the velocity and aftertouch work, and they should, I will be good, I could use the pots from the P10 too...that would be my first desk/module in synths, I always had the keyboard version, never the module but I have already 6 keys, in a L shape, cannot bring more to the gig...
And I know I would want to bring them all, like "go big or go home"...and for the live, I will mainly be using the preset saved...
