LPF83-  I wanted one of those MFB's when they first came out, but getting one in the US seemed nearly impossible.

While the desire for a P12 successor is understandable, the rumors are largely based on speculation. Sequential could indeed release a new hybrid synth, but it's equally possible they'll pursue other avenues.

I'd love a proper successor to the Prophet 12. For me it wouldn't need to be vastly different, but it needs some additions...
16 Voices would be a good start and retain the separate audio outputs for each part. I'd happily forgo the Character section with hack, girth, air etc  and replace it with a proper FX section.
In many ways I consider the ASM Hydrasynth Deluxe (awesome synth) not too far away from what I'd actually want, except that I'd still want it to retain the analogue filters and distortion the Prophet 12 currently has. However a comprehensive FX section and multiple LED displays would be great.
The other thing...and this is a big one for me...keep the numeric keypad for program selection - this makes using the Prophet 12 much better and sound selection much quicker than on say a REV2, which really misses that IMO. I love the Playlist feature too.
One thing I would like adding though is an easy way to solo an oscillator - this is one shortcoming that has always bothered me about the Prophet 12.
Last but not least...and this is ABSOLUTELY VITAL...give it a quality keyed. A proper Fatar top of the range 61 note keyed. The cheap. plasticky keyed they chose to use on The Prophet 12 really let it down.
A slidestrip like that on the Hydrasynth would be good too and obviously keep dedicated buttons for glide, hold and unison.
Finally...give us a synth action 76 note version too.
Do all that and I'm getting my credit card out! :)
