Newest Prophet 5/10 Main OS 2.0.4 and Panel OS 1.1.3

OS updates are compatible with both the Prophet 5 and 10 keyboards and modules. YOU MUST LOAD THE MAIN AND PANEL UPDATES SEPARATELY AND POWER CYCLE AFTER EACH INDIVIDUAL UPDATE COMPLETES. After updating and power cycling the Main OS will display as "2.0.4". After updating and power cycling the Panel OS will display "1.1.3".

**After loading the Panel OS, wait for the display to read "rst" before power cycling**

To check currently installed Main OS, hold GLOBALS and press the program "1" button. To check currently installed Panel OS, hold GLOBALS and press the program "2" button. 

When the OS file is transmitted to the synth a count from 0 to 100 will be displayed on the synth's main display to indicate reception of the OS file.  Once the count reaches 100, a second count from 10 to 0 will commence indicating writing of the OS to internal memory. 

**DO NOT POWER THE SYNTH DOWN WHILE THE SECOND COUNTDOWN IS ACTIVE**

The synth will return to normal operating after the writing stage completes.  Power cycle the synth off and back on to finish the update.

ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR IMPORTANT WORK VIA SYSEX DUMP BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY OS UPDATES!!
Not that we're expecting bad things to happen, but always better safe than sorry. Just remember, you're never going to say to yourself "Man, I wish I hadn't backed that up..."

We do not recommend using the following MIDI interfaces for sysex transfers as we have had multiple users experience problems with them:

    Native Instruments Maschine
    Digidesign Mbox/Mbox2
    Digidesign 001/002
    CME U2MIDI

To check if the OS update was properly installed, restart the unit, hold the GLOBAL button and press the 1 button.  The 3 digit main OS version number will be shown on screen.

If your OS update failed:

1. Update your MIDI drivers for your MIDI interface to the latest or last known stable version
2. Try alternate speed settings: transfer speed settings as low as 25% and as high as 100% have worked for some users when 80% did not
3. Try an alternate MIDI interface. The M-Audio MIDI Sport Uno works well here and is relatively cheap
4. In Windows with MIDI OX on Windows XP:  Try doubling or quadrupling the Size setting to start, and halving/doubling the number of buffers
5. Search google and/or forums for the company that produces your MIDI interface to see if other users are having similar problems with Sysex transfers and whether there is a solution specific to your interface
6. If you are on Windows XP, try another OS or machine. Although it's not ideal, we have had less problems with Mac OSX and Windows 7. Windows XP has known issues with sysex transfers


**INSTALLATION NOTE: It is recommended to reset globals and clear calibration after updating from any OS below Main 1.5.0.  You will need to re-tune the synthesizer from scratch following the update.

RESET GLOBALS : hold RECORD and press GLOBALS
CLEAR CALIBRATION: hold RECORD and press TUNE

If you experience a failed update, try reloading the OS in bootloader mode over DIN MIDI (USB is not available in bootloader mode). To access bootloader mode in the Prophet 5/10, hold both the pitch wheel and the mod wheel in the upmost position while powering on. You will then see "btl" in the display, indicating bootloader mode.

Main 2.0.4 - Q Comp feature use instructions.

1. Hold BANK and press GLOBAL to access the 3rd row global functions.
2. Press the 3 button to select the Q comp mode selection.
3. Use INC/DEC to select between 'VIN' or 'Prg' mode.  'VIN' is the default mode already available in the instrument.
4. With 'Prg' Q comp mode selected,  press the GLOBAL button to exit the 3rd row globals.
5. Press and hold the filter REV button.  'RES' will show on the display indicating that Q Comp selection mode is active.
6. While still holding REV button, using the program select buttons 0-8 to set the amount of Q comp applied to the patch, where 8 is max Q comp.
7. The setting can be saved per patch.

Main 2.0.4 - Adjustable Velocity/Aftertouch feature use instructions.

1. Hold VELOCITY or AFTERTOUCH button.
2. Use INC/DEC to set the amount of VELOCITY or AFTERTOUCH modulation to be applied.
3. The setting affects both modulation destinations for velocity or aftertouch and can be saved per program.

Main 2.0.4 - Link layers when split/stack active.

1.  With SPLIT or STACK active, hold UNISON and press the PRESET button to link the layers for editing.  The PRESET button will blink indicating that linked layers is active.
2.  Hold UNISON and press PRESET to turn linked layers off.

NOTE: Patch level Program volume had originally been set by holding VELOCITY button and changing the program volume on screen.  You can now adjust the relative volume balance between the two patches in a split/stack by holding PRESET and turning the volume pot.
