Classical Music on Synthesizer

A thread for classical music arranged and performed on synthesizer.

This is a newly completed piece by an exceptionally talented synthesist acquaintance of mine, Richard Galbraith.  I believe he's a member of this forum.  Anyway, you can buy his music on Bandcamp (https://richardgalbraith.bandcamp.com/).

Absolutely.  I generally don't like the whole Carlos business and never cared for the Switched-On variety.  To my ears, classical music sounds best by far on traditional instruments.  But Richard has a different approach.  He doesn't use a wide palette of synthesizer tones; he's not trying to impress others or show off an instrument, but has developed a small assortment of patches that sound so effective and not very electronic.  I especially like that warm swelling and falling sawtooth patch that he artfully controls with a device.  His music provides a good argument for multi-tracking, since he effectively alters the dynamics of each voice just like a violinist.

I'm happy to see he has new songs out, I love his stuff.    I believe he uses Synthesizers.com modular.  I really like his trumpet patch.

Yes, he's got a large modular and a tiny little Arturia.

Renaissance music, I'm a big fan. I had a professor in college for whom Renaissance music was his thing, and he really pounded an appreciation of those almost-alien harmonies.

I can't believe it's over 10 years since I first heard Richard's Nesciens Mater. It stood out to me as something quite exceptional: a great performance and some wonderful sounds that fitted the music perfectly.

This new piece has all the magic of that first one.

This Youtuber provides slow solemn Bach music on synthesizer.  Nice and reflective.
