1.2.10b feedback

1.2.10b feedback
« on: April 23, 2016, 03:47:45 AM »
Dear DSI,

Seems like the 1.2.10b is a keeper, for me at least.
I upgraded from the 1.1 stable. I noticed that the calibration routine seems slightly different, the LF would loop back to 1 after 6 for instance, and it seems more stable temp-wise. Am I dreaming it?

My personal feature requests:
- the dot-on-preset-value is great but, stealing from similar mature systems like manual focus indicators on DSLRs, I'd much prefer 2 dots, one for when you are under the value, another for when you are above, and both when you are on it. There is a second dot on the LCD that could be used for that. This way no tiptoeing in the wrong direction.
- please please pretty please, add more velocity curves with an offset start value like 30% instead of 0...

Thank you again and again for that wonderful synth.

Updated my P6 this morning with this version.  Looked like it was almost done and then it stopped showing a "1" in the effects section display and a "1" in the program number display.  I manually rebooted and everything seems okay.  ???

Loaded the new Beta yesterday. All went well no glitches or that hanging 1!! Thank you DSI!
I used the following kit to reprogram the P6:-
iPad2 running iOS 9.1.2
Midi Tool Box App (to send the sysex file)
Behringer i202 dock (to provide Apple to midi interface)
Midi Din connection

I think there may be a bug in the calibration routine on the new beta (1.2.10b). The P6 got stuck in a loop calibrating the low pass filters on several occasions at a gig last Friday night. The only solution was to switch the P6 off and on again. Calibrating could then be run ok. It wasn't particularly hot in the club either. Although the lockup loop wasn't totally consistent, generally the P6 only got stuck after it had been on for about 30mins. But not always, the last time I tried it at the end of the night worked ok! It maybe worth pointing out that my rig was configured with the P6’s midi din in and out connected to my Kurzweil Forte. I use the Forte to provide program changes and controller pedals. Could the calibration routine get messed up by the P6 receiving midi messages? Didn't happen with 1.2.8b AFAIK....

It is interesting you mention that.  I had the same problem in every single version except the new beta.  Calibration works for me now-

Not sure what causes it, but mine would always hang on L1-L6 and loop.  Would restart unit, all seemed ok. 1.2.10 sees to have fixed it for me-

Perfect update for me here. Calibration seems to work fine.

It is interesting to see the OS update download count: 76, my serial number implies there must be 1,000+ P6's around in the world. We are the minority users who care about flanger effects and other updates...

New to this forum, retrieved upgrade and updated my P6 using SysEx Librarian v 1.2 for Mac, no issues. Calibration appears to have been normal, P6 behaving nicely so far, nothing to report. Looking forward to checking out new features and thanks to DSI for the bug fixes. Question: the unit displays "1.2.A" on powerup, not "b"...is this what everyone else is seeing, is this normal? Thanks!

Re 1.2.10b and the P6 showing 1.2.A
A is hex for 10 - required because there's only 3 digits availabe on that display and scrolling the version number might be confusing! I think the b is for Beta. This is a development test release candidate not a full release.

Another 1.2.10b bug, in addition to the calibration routine getting stuck in a loop trying to calibrate the low pass filters: Yesterday after about 5mins of editing on a standard user program (200) the p6 stopped responding to any low pass filter controls. Despite turning off all sources of modulation to the low pass filter, the P6 would not respond to the cutoff, resonance or envelope amount. Once the power was cycled it was back working ok again.

Also note that I've tried the calibration routine without any midi connections. The p6 still gets stuck in a LP Filter loop sometimes when the routine is run after the P6 has been on for a while.

Back to 1.2.8b
I've gone back to beta 1.2.8b which calibrates fine, always, and I've had no control panel lockouts. Also worth noting that on reinstallation of 1.2.8b the programming routine did not hang on the final 1 this time!!

****update.. Ok egg on face here! The p6 is still getting stuck in calibration with v1.2.8b. But DSI (Carson - thanks for the prompt response. Really appreciated even if it did show me up! lol.) has suggested that I need to reset the calibration data by pressing Preset and 3 together. I'll try this when I get a mo and report back.

Also DSI suggest the filter control lockout I experienced may have been caused by some midi interaction or foot pedal input. I'll check these out too..

I see that DSI has added a new Beta for the Prophet 6 (Main OS 1.2.12c) yesterday. I am about to upgrade my prophet 6 for the first time so can anyone confirm if upgrading to the latest Beta, in this case Main OS 1.2.12c, will automatically add the previous OS additions (1.2.10b....1.2.8b... etc) or if each update needs to be upgraded one at a time in sequential order?
