Envelopes
« on: September 30, 2020, 08:11:23 PM »
Hello,
Just got my Pro 3 today and I'm loving it. I'd borrowed a Pro 2 for a while, so navigation isn't too unfamiliar. I'm curious though, are the envelopes linear or exponential by default? I can't seem to find any means of manipulating the curve, does anyone have any cool tricks for changing the shape subtly? I've tried doubling up the Filter Envelope modulation, but I haven't noticed it too much.

They're probably logarithmic rather than exponential but definitely not linear. There's no setting for manipulating the curve (yet?) but you can manipulate the curve through recursive modulation--set the envelope to modulate its own decay for example--or using another envelope to modulate it.

Thanks for the reply, so to make sure I understand the recursive modulation correctly, I would have each envelope parameter modulate itself if I wanted that segment to be exponential?

Here's an article that shows the Pro3 attack envelope contour in its natural state.   Also, examples of recursive envelope modulation on the Pro3:
