creating pitch glidning sound

creating pitch glidning sound
« on: September 17, 2020, 01:29:09 AM »
hi!
i have to create a sound   where i press down one key that rises fairly slowly in pitch, then i press another and it also raises in pitch (the first one also continues upwards…), and i continue to add notes to a total of 3-4… then starting all over again.

any ideas on how to achieve this?
would be extremely grateful for enlightenment!

I think you need to clarify a bit more for any of us to help you.

- Do you want to press *and hold* the keys?
- With "a total of 3-4", you mean just some specified number of notes? Or do you mean simply adding as many notes as you wish to the chord?
- What do you mean with "starting all over again"

I’d say use Envelope 3 routed to pitch, and play around with the Envelope to get the desired result. Maybe try routing Velocity to Env3 Attack, and similar things, if you want variation.

As @maxter said - you'll want to use an envelope for this - either the Aux3 envelope, or if you want the volume to fade in with the pitch rise, you can possibly set the Amp Envelope to do double duty (in Mod Matrix, route Amp Env to Osc All Freq)

Here's a page that has some lookup values for specific musical intervals if you want it to go from one specific pitch up to the target pitch:

(mod matrix to Osc Freq values - ie:  +/- 24 value is an octave via mod matrix)

hi,
thanks so much for your help!!
i must admit i'm very novise at this synth, and would be extremely grateful if you (maxster or creativesprial) could sort of make a step-by-step explanation how to do this routing...

so i want to:
press down one key and hold it and make that pitch rise slowly
then press and hold another key and make that rise as well, whilst the first note keep on rising
then press and hold a third one and make that rise as well, whilst the first and second notes keep on rising
then press and hold a fourth one and make that rise as well, whilst the first, second and third notes keep on rising
then i let go of all notes and start over the process again, from another key.

huge thanks in advance

Hey @spalle

Try this:

1. In the Aux Envelope section turn the Destination Knob to "OscAll Freq"

2. For the Aux Envelope Amount, turn up to +48 (you can adjust this to taste... +48 would be two octaves rise in the attack stage)

3. Set the Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release.   From what you've said, I'd recommend starting with 115 attack, 0 decay, 127 sustain, 100 release.    The sustain at maximum will make it so after the attack stage is finished, it will hold at the top frequency.    You can adjust the ADR timings to taste, depending on your sound design needs.
