Help saving User patches from Rev 2 to computer please

Help saving User patches from Rev 2 to computer please
« on: September 07, 2020, 09:40:34 AM »
Hi, I'm new on here and not sure if this is where I'm supposed to post this question but, I just wondered if anyone could give me some advise. I've created some new patches on the User banks of my Prophet Rev2 and I wanted to know is there a way I can transfer/save the patches onto my computer just in case there's a problem and they are lost on the actual synth.
Any help will be appreciated! Thanks

Here's an article that outlines how to use MIDI-OX (free) to save your patches / banks, and load .syx files to your synth:

Thanks for the reply - Do you know how I would save the patches I have created in the user banks onto my computer, just in case something happened and the patches got wiped off the synth itself?

Yeah, that article outlines how to do it with MIDI-OX.   MIDI-OX is one of the most popular and widely used sysex programs, and can both send .syx files to instruments and receive midi sysex dumps (patches, firmware updates, etc).   (Sysex Librarian is similar for Mac)

From the Rev2, you can go into the Globals Menu and dump a single patch or an entire bank of patches through MIDI sysex protocol.

There are other librarian/editor programs as well, such as the ones from SoundTower and CodeKnobs, which both work well for patch librarian duties.  Also, there was another one call KnobKraft that was recently mentioned... that might work for you.

The MIDI-OX route is the most universal, as it can work with any MIDI instrument that sends and receives MIDI sysex messages.
