Pro 3 Sound Sets / Patch Bank Available Now - Fundamentals Set 1+2

Hey all - I've been working on these sound sets over the past few months.   Have put a few hundred hours into this project, and got it finished up now.  Two custom sound sets (each 64 patches / half banks) - available individually - or together as a set (full bank of 128 patches).

Basses, Leads, and Classic Synth Sounds
Lots of patches inspired by famous songs, and sounds designed to replicate classic tones from vintage Moogs, Oberheims, SCIs, Rolands, etc...  Many patches were designed by A|B matching with classic synth recordings.  In addition, many modern basses, leads and synth sounds are included - stuff that only the Pro 3 could pull off.

Strings, Brass, Keys, Plucks, Organs, and Paraphonic Patches
Many classic string, brass and key sounds inspired by classic synths.   A wide variety of pluck sounds, some synth piano and organ tones, and twenty five paraphonic patches that cover a wide range of harmonic ground.   I've been very pleased with the paraphonic mode on the Pro 3.  It can pull off some really cool harmonies that are unique and different from anything on a true poly synth.

My focus was to deliver both classic/vintage and modern tones that are useful for songwriters and recording engineers.   These sounds are designed to work well in the mix with other instruments.   I have worked hard to fine tune sounds up and down the keybed, and program in thoughtful modulation and performance nuances.   Every patch has key pressure, mod wheel and slider mappings, for expressive performance.   Many of the patches include custom sequences on all four seq slots as well.  All patches are categorized / organized together with three letter prefixes, for easily auditioning between similar type sounds.   

In addition, I have incorporated some advanced sound design tricks to mimic the oscillator intonation characteristics of classic/vintage synths on some of the patches.   (based on the research I did last year on vintage synth and analog ensemble voice modeling)

I recently purchased both of your sound sets and thought I'd offer a brief review here.

These two banks are a very good collection of "classic" types of sounds. Some of the modulation and programming involved is complex, but the sounds are based in the classic 70s and 80s analog sounds and programmed for playability. The Sequential factory banks have some really wild stuff in there, so it's nice to have a full user bank dedicated to these more straightforward synth sounds. It is especially useful to have so many paraphonic patches.

If you're not much of a patch programmer, your mileage will be based on whether you're into those types of sounds or not. If you can't help turning some knobs and experimenting every time you record your synth (why else would we buy the Pro 3?), these are excellent starting points that you can take in any number of directions.

Most presets, even my own, I use as individual starting points every time I need a PRO 3 type of sound in my productions. I am always making changes to patches, bringing them into my user bank, and then overwriting them every time I adjust them for a track. This way, my main user banks are always evolving.

These banks help with that workflow a lot. Sometimes it's faster and easier to make a simple preset more complex, and that's exactly what this bank facilitates with my Pro 3. The interface makes editing a breeze, and these are fantastic building blocks for that editing.

I found the customer service very nice as well. When a few users mentioned it would be more useful to have the patches in Bank 2, they quickly put together a version for that.

All in all, these make a nice 128-patch bank that I frequently use to speed up my sound design. I wouldn't purchase it if I didn't enjoy modifying sounds. If you are more interested in sounds to pull up and play without modifying, keep in mind that these lean towards a classic time-honored flavor of synth patches.

Yeah, classic/vintage type mono-synth sounds was my core focus for a lot of the patches.   Many of the patches were developed by A|B matching tones with classic recordings from old Moogs, SCIs, Oberheims and Roland boards from the 70s and 80s.  When I'm jamming with friends (guitar/bass/drums/synth), I like to have those type of sounds on tap for playing live or recording.  There are a handful of modern patches in there too, utilizing the extensive drive/distortion/feedback options to give more aggressive sounds.

As you mention, these can be a good foundation / starting point for knob tweaking and sequencing... the interface of the Pro3 is always begging to be tweaked, with all the real time controls available.   I tried to show some examples of that in the demo video... playing the sequences and doing some knob twisting of octaves, filter, sequence juggling and using the slider/wheel modulation macros that are programmed in -- they can quickly turn from classic/vintage type mono sounds to very modern / avant-garde type of sounds and sequences.

I originally didn't plan to have as many paraphonic patches... but have been really pleasantly surprised with the paraphonic mode on the Pro3.   When I purchased the Pro3 I didn't really intend to use the paraphonic mode much (as I've got a fleet of other polys to cover that ground)... but the character of the paraphonic sounds this board is capable of is really great.   So I ended up programming 25 paraphonic sounds in the Set 2.   Having the three note stealing, and single articulated filter/envelopes is normally considered a downside, but it really has its "own sound" that you couldn't pull off on a true poly-synth.   I'm definitely planning on using some of the para patches for harmonies in my music.   Also, I found that running a mono sequence on a paraphonic patch can get really interesting results when you tweak the octave knobs... It creates a sort of poly-rhythm where every third note jumps up/down octaves.   

Anyways, thanks again for the purchase!  Hope you get lots of use out of them!

Your work that you've done with the Rev2 is outstanding as well as the videos and sounds you have been featuring here of your Pro 3.  The Pro 3 has become one of my all time favorite synths as it is so fun with how instantly hands on it is with the amazing sequencer!  Being able to switch back and forth between 4 different sequences instantly at the touch of a button brings a whole new sweet level of inspiration and workflow which is always much needed! 

I reallllly hope Sequential gives us the feature to import our own user Wavetables as that will greatly open up an even more vast range of sound for the Pro 3. 

Lastly....I'm waiting very impatiently for Sequential to announce this next new synth they are planning to drop this summer!  What could it be?!

Many thanks for the wonderfull sound you created. I just sysexed the sound and my fist impression was. ...wow this is the mono/para synth i was expecting. I was a bit disapointed by the standard presets, they are very hard to use in my gig (classic soul/jazz/fusion).
Now I'm ready to play some good solo with your sounds and the Pro 3!!!!
