8Dio Add-ons ?
« on: May 25, 2020, 05:51:07 PM »

So...no more 8Dio Add-ons ???

This has been out for awhile, and until now only Synths Banks and a CP70 ? This is kinda disapointing...  :(

Yeah. I know of those. Mostly Synth packs too. Some are great ! But ... Prophet X could use more variety of packs, even if you and i could not use or have interested in all packs.

I think i read somewhere, that after these "synths" pack. they (8dio) would move into something else...but till now...

Perhaps they are busy with the mapping Utility? It basic and still in beta since 2018 I believe.

The version i downloaded just a few time ago, says "beta". I think it's the latest (only?).

There was an air of sarcasm in my words.

I spoke with 8DIO in February 2019 as I had some issues with the mapping Utility. Some of the issue they accepted, some they didn't. Bottom line they felt the product was complete and would soon be out of beta. Its still in beta well over 12 months later so I really don't think they are backing the Prophet X as much as I would have hoped.

Thank goodness for LadyGaia for coming to the rescue and making a product that functions and works better than the official product.
8Dio were not aware of this product so while I was having the conversations about the Mapping Utility I directed them to what a single person has achieved verses their entire "team" effort.

I don't hold much breath for 8Dio with their support of this joint enterprise product.

Maybe the Libraries for the PX,  they made so far haven't sell too much ? Have no idea...
But i was hoping form much more and with more diveirsity, than what they have provided so far. Thankfully the included Sample Library is varied, but stilll  ???

I asked last month if more packs were coming for the PX/PXL and 8Dio responded that they were. I can't attach a screenshot of it unfortunately but here's the video link. Scroll down to the comments section...it's there.

And of course you can add your own.... :) Not that I have tried it yet, but I hope to get around to it some time :)

Just had a chat with them.

"Hello Everett, We have several more Prophet X Addons in the works. With everything going on we don't currently have hard deadlines as to when these will be released but there are more coming. We are not able to reveal too much information at this time but there will be more acoustic instruments coming."

I just ordered a PX in place of the Nord Wave 2 I had on preorder. (Everything I heard coming from the Nord was way too sterile.) I'd prefer to fill the PX's additional storage with samples so I don't have to think about that in the future. The thing is, I have analog synthesis covered and don't need samples of synths, so hopefully 8Dio is indeed working on some acoustic packs.

I really recommend Cyborg Studio. I got all my Fairlight, DX7, D50, Emulator III, Ensoniq SQ-1, Synclavier samples from there. Once I snag the ISLA-S2400 drum machine, I'll be grabbing all the SP-12, 1200, DMX, LM1, and Linn Drum samples on there too!

Just got mine in today & as many of you know it sounds amazing. I noticed something curious though; the 8Dio logo is no longer on the upper right corner, which to me is a good thing as it looks sleeker without it. The 8Dio logo is still on the back, so it's probably just a design choice, but perhaps it says something about the post-launch state of affairs...

Sequential has been good with questions and support prior to the pandemic, which I'm sure slows things down on their end.  8Dio?  Let's just say the Prophet X introduced me to their products and I was really curious to learn more, but by the time I was in the market for some of their symphonic libraries I had decided to look elsewhere.

I get the impression that Sequential's usual approach to an instrument is to get it to market, address any immediate issues, turn out another form factor with some refinements and then shift their focus to the next couple of projects.  Then after a couple of years the come back to add some fresh new features to keep earlier models relatively fresh.  If they follow through with that general pattern for the Prophet X then I'll be glad to update PXToolkit again wherever it makes sense.

Can somebody from Sequential confirm if 8Dio is still working on some new sample packs for the Prophet X.
Every time I ask 8Dio I get some vague answers like this below:

Me:
Hi, When can we aspect some new Prophet X add-ons? I think it's more then a year ago that the last add-on came out. You've got a big database of all kind of different samples that you only have to convert to the Prophet X format.

8Dio:
Hello there
we cannot confirm future sales or releases, unfortunately.

Me:
Why not If I may ask? It's a collaboration with Sequential. So I would aspect some new sample packs for the Prophet X.

8Dio:
We are unable to confirm future sales or releases as they are still being developed.
So you are working on some new Prophet X sample packs? That would be great!

8Dio:
I can not confirm if we are working on any, or if any will be released

So really annoying. Can't Sequential work with other companies that have big databases of all kind of different samples.
That way we can have more sample packs and more diverse ones. And hopefully coming out in a much faster rate.

Honestly, I've found getting samples off of CyborgStudio more rewarding than anything 8Dio has done.
