Loud mechanical noise on one specific key

Loud mechanical noise on one specific key
« on: May 18, 2020, 02:42:22 AM »
I got my REV2 last December, and have been pretty happy so far.

Yesterday I noticed that the Bb key in the fourth octave makes a loud mechanical noise when tapped relatively hard. It seems as if the extended top of the key is hitting the back of the top panel. You can hear it in this short video:

I am not sure whether that was there from the beginning or not, but I assume it wasn't.

  • Has anyone else experienced this?
  • Would it be wise to open the top panel to have a look there?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would contact customer service and ask them in this case, as it probably involves opening it up like you said.

Thanks, I did contact support but the issue eventually went away on its own, despite it being really bad.
Might be useful for future reference.

Could you have a foreign part (or broken residue) moving loosely in the keyboard?
The REV2 is very easy and safe to open, you should check what's going on inside.
